HUD 5.7.1 on General Release

HUD 5.7.1 is now final (was HUD 5.7.0RC2.9).

This HUD upgrade is recommended for everyone, especially if you are working on your gag trials.

NEW:

Longer Security Check Timeout: especially for logins. And self-detects sim-freezes due to rezzing of Mono scripts and adjusts accordingly.
nearly 40% lighter: Less scripts, more power.
Reset: Only one reset now “/1.reset” (“/1.quickreset” does the same thing).
New HUD: Detects SL borking your HUD, and sends you a new replacement HUD (of the same version, to be compatible with your gear). Also manual “New HUD…” option on help menu.
Protects against data loss: Because of crashes and inventory trouble, your LULU gear settings and stats are safer on LULU servers than in SL – but this doesn’t help if LULU servers never receive your stats and settings. Now the HUD has a few tricks for avoiding SL’s wonderful throttle which silently discards data, self-recovers and retries automatically on failure (whether SL failure, SL throttle, server error or database error), aggregates data before sending to minimize use of SL and server resources (obsoleted data is never sent), built-in data-overflow checks to avoid truncated data and sends in optimized chunks where applicable, and allows servers to send back any corrected malformed data.
Improved “Tell Lulu”: Feedback allows you to check your text before sending.
Smarter downloads: during initialization and resets, will workaround SL’s habit of silently dropping downloads (no it’s not the http throttle).

Bugfixes:

White Cuffs: white cuffs will no longer revert to tan cuffs on relog.
LULU logo button: sometimes would not work. Fixed.
Gag: always defaulted back to No-IM after relog.

How to get it.

Have HUD 5.7.0 RC2.0 and above? Just go to the help menu (“/1.help”) and hit “New HUD…”. Just transfer gear over, no re-setup required.

Otherwise, just go to the Update Switch at the Secret Warehouse and update. If your gear is the latest, you will be given the “New HUD” option. Click that, wear the new HUD and transfer your gear over. No setup required.

If your gear is not the latest, you will get new boxed sets of your gear with HUD 5.7.1. You will need to set up your gear again, and activate your arm and thigh cuffs (by wearing the activators).

RC 2.9 Gag: Chat blocked, IMs not blocked?

A few avies have complained that HUD 5.7.0 RC2.9 shut out local chat when the gag is worn (no chat appearing in window, but no garble appearing either). Also, IMs are unblocked.

This is not a bug.

local chat blocked. This is the intended behavior if you wear a Signature Gag in RLV mode. There’s no way to change this, because this is what a gag is supposed to do.
no garble text appearing. On your gag menu, choose “garble…” and select “garble tight”. Your garble mode might have been inadvertently set to off, or loose, when garble text will not appear.
IMs not blocked. On your gag menu, choose “RLV options…”, and make sure “no-IM” is checked. Otherwise it will allow IMs.

If anyone’s found any bugs or issues with RC2.9, please IM now, as I’m expecting this to go live soon.

HUD 5.7.0 RC2.8 (2.9) refresh

I was about to bring the Release Candidate to General Release, but then Arcsylver Ember brought an RLV bug to my attention.

Since it wasn’t too hard to fix, here it is.

If you use RLV with the gag, and you reset your HUD, your RLV gag settings would no longer default back to no-IMs allowed.

[Edit: It’s now RC2.9… removed some debugging code left in RC2.8]

How to get yours:

If you’ve got HUD 5.7.0 RC2.0 and above, just say “/1.help” and hit “New HUD…”. Wear that, and transfer your gear over. No setup necessary.

If you’ve got HUD 5.6.3 or 5.6.4, go to the Secret Warehouse and update – and choose the “HUD only” option. Wear that, transfer your gear over. No setup necessary.

If you’ve got earlier HUDs, you need to update your cuffs or gags first, and setup everything. Then you update again, now choosing “HUD only” option (see above), and transfer gear over.

HUD 5.7.0 RC2.6 refresh

RC2.6 fixes a cuff bug introduced with 2.4 or 2.5 – when clicking the cuff menu (or saying “/1c”) with cuffs worn, it re-rezzes another set instead of giving you the menu.

If you are using RC2.0 and above, just say “/1.help” and click “New HUD…” to get this new HUD. Then transfer your gear over, no need to re-setup anything.

If you’re using HUD 5.6.4 or 5.6.3, you can get this by going to the Update Switch and updating – and choosing the “HUD only” option. Again, transfer your gear over, no need to re-setup anything.
