If you have trouble running setup

A few days ago someone came to me with a strange problem – setup will automatically cancel itself right after the Yellow Ball was rezzed. A fresh HUD didn’t help either.

So I ran setup and it worked fine. I gave a set to her Master (a friend) to try, and it worked well too. That ruled out LL corruption of the asset, or sim quirks.

After further investigation, it turned out that she was using RLV and wearing RR attachments at the time. Removing RR worked.

So.

If your setup cancels on you from the start, and you are using the RLV, try these steps:

  1. Remove all RR attachments.
  2. If setup still doesn’t work, either: remove all other attachments (that might use RLV), or login in using SLV (SL Viewer). Then run setup.

That should do it.

HUD v5.3.0 + Signature Cuffs v2.2.2 out now

If you’ve been having flapping/twitching arms in slow/crowded/Homestead/OpenSpace sims, the new Smart Refresh 3.0 will fix it. Note that the moment your AO or dance anim starts, your arms may still twitch a bit as the two anims fight for control – but the arms should win out at the end.

Also fixes some cuff re-sizing problems (when sometimes a new rez can’t remember the size settings).

Details here.

Plus, new changes under the hood that paves the way for adding more complex animations in future.

Server version 1.25.5 out on Tuesday, fixes “attach” bug

LL has announced that they will be restarting the Grid from Tuesday through Thursday to update the server software to 1.25.5. This includes a fix for the “crash on attach” bug.

Do check the sim version (via SL menu “Help” > “About Second Life…”) and look for the line that says “Second Life Server 1.25.5.xxxxx” (where xxxxx are numbers). If it says 1.25.4.xxxxx, it’s still on the old code.

Once the sim you’re on has been deployed with 1.25.5.xxxxx, it’s safe to AIR-Rez your Signature gear again. Yay!

Some changes at the Update Switch

Because the Update Switch still appears to be a mystery to some, I’ve made it even simpler.

If you’re updating from a previous version, you will now always get “HUD + gear” by default. That means, you need to run setup again (since the gear is a new version), and activate any plugins you have. You will no longer get the option for “HUD only” (which was the source of confusion – you can’t update to a newer version if the HUD doesn’t contain the gear!).

Now you will only get the option for “HUD only” if you click the switch and the cuffs you are wearing are already the latest version. Choosing “HUD only” will allow you to skip the setup/activation process by transferring your existing gear into a blank HUD.
