Tip of the Week #5: “HELP!…” is your friend

Very quick Tip:

On HUDs v4.12.00 and above, on your help menu (click “HELP!…” button or say “/1.help”), you will see a “latest fixed?” button.

Clicking it will bring you to the Release notes of your cuffs (or gag). Why is this useful?

  • it’s a quick way to check whether your HUD/cuffs/gag is updated.
  • if you’re having certain problems, you can check whether it is a known issue, and has been fixed.

Quick note: “unreleased versions” are just that – they haven’t been released yet, but if you see stuff in gray, that means they have been fixed, or new features are in there, they’re just not released – yet.

The different versions are explained on the site.

So remember, “fixed latest?” is your friend.

v4.10.02 HUD for Signature Cuffs (Release Candidate)

v4.10.02 has improved memory management for those with lots of Lulu gags and cuffs installed. It now scales a lot better, and can take lots more Signature toys.

If you get a lot of stack-heap errors again and again soon after “/1.reset”, you should get this, at the Release Candidate box in the Warehouse.

HUD v4.12.00 and Signature Cuffs v1.05.07 RC

Various bugfixes and a revamped help menu.

There’s a major fix of “smart reset”, which in some situations could not detect failed scripts; given that Second Life is sooo unstable these days, it is not uncommon to have script run-time errors which require “smart reset” to fix.

Various bugfix details here.

Woot! SL Viewer 1.19.1 (RC1)

Why am I so happy with the latest SL Viewer?

Well, some of you might know that the last SL RC Viewer (RC0) crashed on me every time I logged in. Yup, no Windlight (since the Lindens in their infinite wisdom merged Windlight into RC). Concierge customer support (as usual) yielded very little, other than asking me to start (yet) another JIRA entry, which usually means more work for me so the Lindens can sit back and laugh at our pathetic little efforts. (At least it feels that way.)

So, what little surprise to find RC1 released only a few days later (granted, the solution was found by a resident and posted on JIRA). And yay, I can login and Windlight is back! To those who can live without beauty, good for you. Me, I’m an aesthete. I thrive on art and aesthetics – it’s the one theme that I try to let permeate in all that I do, whether it’s textures, animations or vendors. So, I need my Windlight fix! With RC1, once again, there is a crackle in the ether above, and a sparkle in waters below. You can almost hear the evensong in between. I can create again.

And another bonus… Media Browser! Now you can open web pages right within Second Life. For once it seems the Linden gods are smiling upon me, methinks. Couldn’t have come at a better time, when I’m integrating my little online help with the Signature HUD.

The main problem with an online help is that you need leave Second Life, if only for a few minutes. Those few minutes are enough to spoil the fantasy for some. Now, with Media Browser, you remain in-world, and in a Windlight-world, to boot. Cool.

You know what this means right?

… exciting possibilities.

LULU Leather Signature Cuffs are out!

Finally! LULU Leather Signature Cuffs!

Nasty new look.

As promised, there will an upgrade program for those with the LULU Plus Cuffs.

  • if you have the Plus Cuffs, you can upgrade to the Signature Cuffs base set for L$790.
  • if you have the Plus Cuffs Arm plugin, you can upgrade to the Signature Cuff Arm plugin for L$790. But know that they are plugins are they require the base sets to work.

The upgrade vendors (at the PLUS vendors, not at the Signature side) will be available shortly as I need to prepare the vendors and upgrade packs. When they’re ready I’ll announce them in-world via group notices. And just so you know, the Signature series is designed so that you can launch and control multiple cuffs and multiple gags from the one HUD. You just need to “transfer” (on the HUD menu) your toys from one HUD to another.

Now, go smell the leather, and enjoy!
